The Liebster Award

Samantha, over at http://hisendlesslove.com, nominated me for the Liebster award! It’s purpose is to recognize new bloggers, reach more people, and essentially making a blogger very happy. 🙂

The Rules:

  • Link back to the blogger that nominated you
  • Answers the 11 new questions
  • Nominate other bloggers (however many or few as you’d like)
  • Create 11 (or however many you’d like) new questions
  • Notify the new nominees of their award.
  1. When did you start blogging and why? I started blogging back in 2012, a blog I still update on occasion: http://princecharming101.blogspot.com is all about relationships. My brother inspired me to write a blog teaching young men how to treat women with respect, and win our hearts! I started A Future Hope last year, when I was fresh out of college, and needing to have a purpose that served God and encouraged other people.
  2. What is your favorite movie? Easter Parade, with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire. They sing, they dance, and the story line is great! Makes me happy every time I watch it.
  3. When was your last, best vacation? A few years ago my family went on a cruise, which was such a blessing. It was really neat to be on a huge ship, and fun to explore a couple islands. My favorite part was swimming with dolphins!
  4. Fun fact that nobody knows about you? I can touch my tongue on my nose, 😛 a totally useless talent, but fun nonetheless!
  5. What is your favorite, non-religious book? I’m a reader, so it’s hard to narrow it down. But my favorite has to be These Happy Golden Years, by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Such a beautiful love story, from the woman who wrote Little House on the Prairie.
  6. What is your favorite religious book? Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young. She never fails to encourage me, and I think God uses her writing to bring my focus back to Him.
  7. Describe your perfect weekend. Ooohhh! A beautiful sunny day in Colorado. Family and friends (or the future love of my life) would pick me up in the morning, and we would head to the mountains for a hike! I’d pack a picnic lunch, with goodies I baked myself. We would hike to the top of the mountain while soaking in God’s grand creation. We’d have our picnic, and laugh a lot :). It would be a time of peace and refreshment, and everyone would leave with a spring in their step.
  8. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Why? Laura Ingalls Wilder. She lived on the prairie, and had such an amazing life. She is the author of my favorite book series, Little House on the Prairie.
  9. Describe yourself in three words. Christian, Sassy, Adventurous
  10. What single quality do you appreciate in other people? Reliable/Trustworthy… I think they are connected.
  11. What is your favorite post you’ve ever written (link please): It’s called “Broken Girl in a Broken World”, and shows how I dealt with disappointment and God forcing me to slow down. It’s more raw and personal than some of my other posts. https://afuturehope.wordpress.com/2015/01/30/broken-girl-in-a-broken-world/

I would like to nominate Liz over at Lark and Bloom, and April over at Peaceful Single Girl for the Liebster awards! They have inspired and encouraged me through their writing.

The Heart of a Dreamer

To Live

We are the warriors, ready to slay the dragon.

We dream of a world with more laughter and less pain.

We see more than meets the eye.

We are the Dreamers.

As a dreamer, we believe we can accomplish anything we set our minds too. And sometimes, we don’t understand when others give up easily.

Big Dreams, Big Risks

Do they not know that the biggest dreams require the biggest risks? That seeing something come to life takes a lot of sweat and tears?

Have you given up? Maybe you dreamed, and the dream came up empty. You tried, and everything fell apart… or you were too afraid to try. Did someone, somewhere, tell you that you couldn’t do it? That you’d never be good enough, smart enough, or good-looking enough to reach your dream? Please stop believing those lies.

Take a moment to soak this in: God isn’t done with you. He still has dreams and plans for your life.

Deep down, you know it’s true.

You let the dream go, thinking it could never be. But is that hope I see? That little seed of your dream has just been dormant. Now that it is seeing light, it wants to grow. Will you water it? Some days it may seem to just sit there, not growing or changing. But don’t let it wither away. Work at it, fertilize it, and give it sunlight.

Even More Beautiful

When the time is right, God will bring about a more beautiful bloom than you imagined. Actually, it will be quite different than what you thought the seed would produce. But isn’t that what makes it even more beautiful? The fact that you can tell it was not of your own doing, but Christ at work in and through you, bringing your dream into being?

Guess what?! You are not limited to one dream. On the contrary, you shall have many dreams. Not all of them will be your job to see through from start to finish. You will need people to join you in making your dream happen, people who believe in you, and people to make you think outside the box. Then they may take on your dream as their own, and God calls you elsewhere.

Keep Dreaming!

Either way, keep dreaming, keep fighting, and keep believing. The adventure with Christ is a lifelong one… and someday I truly desire to hear “Well done, my good and faithful servant,” from the One who loved me and held my hand every day of the journey.

Are you excited for an awfully big adventure?
