Prayer for America

This Independence Day, I want to be grateful for the many blessings we have by living in America. I am very grateful for the freedom of religion that makes it possible for me to go to church, witness, and write this blog without persecution. Freedom of expression, the right to bear arms, and women’s rights are all part of our country’s fabric, woven throughout the past 2 centuries.

America really is beautiful.

Please read the lyrics of a famous American song, followed by a prayer for America.

God Bless America, By Irving Berlin

God bless America,
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above;

From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.

Prayer for America

Dear Almighty God,

You have blessed us God, even when our government and society runs from your truth and your Word. Thank you.

I love this land you have made! May you give us the passion to preserve it and treat it well for many more years.

Many have stood beside our country, fighting for our freedom, and we thank you for their service. Please bless their families with comfort and peace.

Please guide this country and those leading it. May your plans prevail, and may their hearts be changed by You. Be the shining light they follow. Guide us also with Your light.

Your creation is amazing! We in Colorado get to see the purple mountain majesties, and are filled with awe at the work of your hands.

This place is our home, sweet home. Help us protect this land and the foundation she was built on. May we be devoted to serving you, pursuing the truth, and making you known.

Please, in Your great grace, continue to bless America.

Have a blessed Independence Day! May you enjoy time with family while celebrating our country and being grateful for the men and women who have fought to protect her and our freedoms.

Peace and Quiet

The crumpled wrapping paper has been tossed, the twinkling lights have dimmed. No more Christmas songs on the radio. What do we do now, after such a season of light and joy? Just get back into our old routine?
I’d like to suggest another way.
We just celebrated the birth of the Prince of Peace. So my goal for the New Year is to trust the Lord more and be filled with His peace. This peace is steady and unending, though we must slow down to receive it.
We all need some peace and quiet.

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Colossians 3:15 is especially relevant for all of us right now. Let your heart be ruled and guided by the peace of Christ. We as Christians should be known for being peaceful and kind. And don’t forget the last part! Being thankful for all the blessings you have now, and the rest of the year will give you a positive outlook and contentment on a daily basis.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Can we fully understand how the peace of God works? No, but we can rest assured that His peace is always available, and will guard our hearts and minds. Don’t be ruled by to-do lists, stressful situations, work, or disappointments. Pray that the Lord would fill you with His peace, and rest in the comfort of knowing God’s love for you never fails.

Love in Christ,
